The mission of Brå is to promote crime prevention work through development, research, and knowledge dissemination, primarily to the government and authorities within the justice system.
We are now looking for a Chief Legal Officer who is a secure and engaged leader with broad legal expertise who wants to contribute to strengthening and developing the agency's legal governance and information management in a time of change.
About the job
In your role as Chief Legal Officer, you have overall responsibility for the agency's legal function as well as for the archive and registry operations. Your role includes being the head of the unit for law, procurement, registry, archives, and finance with responsibility for employees working with law, registry, and archives. Brå is currently reviewing the organization, which may affect the unit division. The role offers great opportunities to influence and shape the operations.
Within the unit, there is also the agency's data protection officer.
You drive, lead, and develop the legal function as well as the archive and registry operations, which involves both operational and strategic work and ensures that the agency's operations are conducted legally, efficiently, and in accordance with applicable regulations. Together with your colleagues, you also work to continuously improve and develop the processes, routines, and working methods of the operations with the aim of achieving even higher quality and efficiency. As a manager, you are responsible for finance, personnel, and working environment within your area of responsibility.
You report directly to the Director General and are part of or have close access to the agency's top management. You are expected to provide legal support to the Director General, the agency's management team, and operations in both operational and strategic matters.
We are looking for someone who has
- a law degree or a bachelor's degree in law
- experience of legal work within the state
- documented and well-functioning leadership experience with personnel and budget responsibility
- very good ability to express yourself well in speech and writing.
It is advantageous if you have
- experience of working with top management or at a level that has provided a good understanding of working with governance and management issues
- have worked at a law enforcement agency, the Government Offices, or another relevant authority for the position.
- experience of development work in the area of digitization
- very good knowledge in criminal law, administrative law, data protection, or public access and secrecy
- experience of working with governing documents
- good knowledge in archives and registry
As Chief Legal Officer, you work closely with the operations, which means it is important that you are attentive, have the ability to create good relationships and collaborations, and that you can understand the organization's operations, needs, and conditions. To succeed in the assignment, you need to be communicative, proactive, have the ability to coordinate and drive the work forward, be confident in your legal expertise as well as in your leadership. Furthermore, you are responsible, have the ability to prioritize, and carry out your assignment with high quality. You lead, develop, engage, and involve your employees.
We will place great emphasis on personal suitability.
The employment is a permanent full-time position, with start date according to agreement. Brå applies a 6-month probationary period and individual salary setting. We have an inclusive approach and value diversity.
